THINKING ABOUT SOMEONE WHILE LISTENING TO MARIAH CAREY, 4’25, 2008
is based on the simple premise that interacting with an artwork can be a revealing and creative gesture of its own.
I was interested in how recording my reaction to Carey’s storytelling communicates, or perhaps fails to communicate, private details of my life.
The project is also a fan artwork. I wanted to bring attention to the beauty of her music, and especially to her often unrecognized prowess for lyricism.
