ROAD KILLS, 4’06, 2005
En divers endroits de la ville et à différents moments de l'année, (un matin de chaque saison), j'ai organisé une mise en scène.
Je suis couchée sur la chaussée, parfois très bien habillée et parfois habillée comme une sans-abri. Cachée dans une voiture stationnée à proximité, une personne filme la réaction des passants.
Un microphone dissimulé sur moi enregistre les interactions verbales avec les piétons et le bruit du trafic. J'ai reçu beaucoup d'attention lorsque j’étais bien habillée, parfois, plus que prévu!
Par contre j’ai été à peine aperçue, pas de réaction et aucune interaction lorsque j'étais dans le rôle de femme sans-abri.

At various locations throughout the city, and at different times of the year, (one morning for each season), I staged a performance. It consists of myself lying on the pavement.
Sometimes dressed in my everyday clothes, sometimes very well dressed and sometimes dressed as if I am living on the street. Hiding in a car nearby, a cameraperson is filming people’s reactions to my lying down on the sidewalk.
I have a hidden microphone so that the verbal interactions with pedestrians and the sound of the traffic are recorded as well. I got a lot of attention and concern while well dressed.
Sometimes more than expected! There was however hardly a glimpse, no reaction and no interactions when I was in the role of a homeless women.
