Ce projet a été imaginé grâce à deux livres : l’un de Béatrix le Wita, Ni vue ni connue, une approche ethnographique de la culture bourgeoise en France et l’autre de Richard Hoggart,
La culture du pauvre, une étude sur le style de vie des classes populaires en Angleterre. D’après nos politiciens et nos médias, les différentes classes sociales ont disparu.
Néanmoins, les riches sont devenus plus riches et les pauvres, plus pauvres. Ces films évoquent cet escamotage, là où le bât blesse.

This project is a concept based on two books: On one hand Beatrix Wita’s Neither seen nor known, which is an ethnographic approach of bourgeois culture in France and on the other hand Richard Hoggart’s
The culture of the poor, which is a study on the lifestyle of the working class in England. According to our politicians and the media, different social classes have disappeared.
Nevertheless, the rich got richer and the poor poorer. These films evoke this dissipation, where the shoe pinches.

Un Congolais et une Française vivent en couple dans un appartement de 15m2. C’est leur « cocon ». Dans cette surface « intime », ils se dévoilent l’un à l’autre et créent un lien.
Celui-ci les unit, mais les empêche également de faire des choses séparément.

A Congolese man and a French woman live together as a couple in a 15m2 (49 sq. ft) flat. It is their “cocoon”. On this “intimate” surface, they unveil one to another and create a link.
This ties them together on one hand, but hinders them to do things separately on the other hand.

Reproduite à l’huile, la peinture est remise en rayon dans le magasin IKEA.

IKEA is a video describing all the stages of an intervention, which consists of reproducing Audrey Hepburn’s portrait sold massively through this big brand.
Replicated in oil, the painting is put on shelves in an IKEA store.
