ON OF ME LADS, 1’32, 2004
ONE OF ME LADS is about power relations and reflects upon the different kinds of rituals, strategies and codes that emerge in the defining of “us” and “the other”.
The video refers to the on going 'struggle' in our lives to be part of something. The feeling of exclusion is sore and our strategies to attain status are often in conflict with our own self-respect.
The images that I portray refer to childhood memories of grown up men. In this case the physical punishments and the psychological humiliations older boys exposed them to as kids or what they themselves did to those lower down on the “ladder”.
This was a world of blurred borders, where play often was brutal reality.

TRUST2’ 25, 2005
Trust is inspired by a scene of Deliverance (John Boorman, 1972) where four canoe companions are carrying a dead hillbilly.
When a person is being carried, whether during a rescue, in play or in a ritual, a feeling of kinship and communion evolves amongst those who are carrying.
The person being carried has only to trust that she is in good hands. In my film I wish to convey that trust involves the duality of vulnerability and strength.
TRUST strengthens bonds and it gives a sense of security, confidence and reliance. At the same time it makes you extremely vulnerable if the expectations and convincement is lost.
TRUST is about this fine balance. We are presented with four young women in a snow-clad forest.
They are wandering around in exploration, perhaps of each other. Their undertakings appear almost like a ritual. This might be a situation of severity or perhaps it just a game.
